Chucky Creator Reveals Series Has No Blood Limits (Exclusive)

Spoilers follow for Chucky season 2!! As fans of Chucky TV series know the show didn’t pull its punches when it came to gore just because it airs on TV. This season alone has seen a number of characters get their chests pierced, chainsawed from head to toe, and even ripped to a bloody pulp (RIP Devon Sawa for the third time). While horror fans loved every blood-soaked minute of the series, many may be wondering… isn’t there a line? Speaking with ComicBook.com in an exclusive interview, series creator Don Mancini answered that question to assure us that basically, no, there isn’t.

“I started learning how fast that line moves in television when I first worked on it HannibalMancini revealed. I was often shocked. It’s like, “Oh, you could do that on network TV now? Oh, where have you been? There’s a little bit of that. I think they’re on board. They’re on board with all this mess, God loves them. They’ve been incredibly supportive. So, no.” I guess we haven’t done anything to offend them yet. So, thank God.”

When asked if he had ever received a call from the Standards and Practices Network asking to step back from the scene, Mancini simply replied, “No.” He adds, “That’s one of the great things about working with the people we do on this project. UCP is our studio, and SYFY/USA, our network, are all horror fans. Mabye isn’t surprised by a network called SYFY, but that’s not always the case.” I’ve definitely worked on some movies I’ve worked with studio executives where it’s not really their type of movie, which doesn’t mean they weren’t supportive of our movie, but it’s not really a thing. And one of the advantages of being older, I think, is that The network and the studio are now run by people who grew up with Chucky. And they loved it. They’re legit fans. So, I’m very lucky in that regard because I think they’re, like I said, very supportive of our brand of anarchy.”
